Steam Next Fest, community hides AI-declared demos as fest ends

Playfeed's Next Fest index shows 7,088 demos listed on Steam through 26 October and has hidden 2,536 entries whose developers declared using AI, leaving 4,552 visible. Playfeed sorts the remaining demos by how many people are playing and checks player counts every few hours. The site also offers a 'Small demos' view for titles with under 100 players and a version of the list that removes AI-declared games so users can browse fewer AI-disclosed entries. Playfeed notes some developers do not disclose AI use, so a few AI-made demos may still appear. Community tools and lists built around that filtered view drew attention during the festival; one post reported over 2,600 people used the Next Fest list in three days. The filtered listings aim to change how players discover demos during the event by prioritizing non-disclosed or non-AI-declared titles and smaller projects.
