Aleksandar Vučić conceded defeat after preliminary results showed a student-led movement winning a majority in Serbia’s 250-seat parliament, ending his 12-year rule. Vučić told supporters that a sample indicated the Student List would take between 135 and 140 seats while his Serbian Progressive party would have 105; pollsters CeSID and Ipsos estimated 138 deputies for the Student List and 104 for Vučić’s party, with remaining seats likely for ethnic minority parties. The vote followed two years of student-led protests and a final pre-election rally in Belgrade that drew about 150,000 people. Turnout reached 67.6% by 7pm local time, the highest since Yugoslavia’s breakup in 1992, with long lines and reported wait times up to two hours. Celebrations erupted across Belgrade and other cities; at the Student List headquarters Radomir Saičić, a Belgrade University professor speaking for the students, said, "Tonight we celebrate victory, tomorrow we build the future." The result hands the Student List a clear governing majority and ushers in an immediate shift of power and accountability demands for top members of the outgoing regime.
