All-Star forward Jalen Williams suffered a fractured fibula and a dislocated left ankle in the final minute of Sunday’s game against the LA Clippers, Thunder general manager Sam Presti said. Williams, 25, will undergo surgery and the Thunder will provide a timetable after the procedure; Presti called it a surgical situation and said the injury is more commonly seen in football. Williams averaged 13.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in Oklahoma City’s first three games; he was a 2025 All-Star, third-team All-NBA selection and the Thunder’s second-leading scorer during their 2025 title season. Coach Mark Daigneault convened the team to regroup, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said Williams will come back better and the team must “hold down the fort.” The Thunder also lost guard Cason Wallace to a torn labrum in his shoulder; Wallace, 22, signed a five-year, $139 million rookie extension before this season. With roster changes over the summer and those injuries, the Thunder will turn to Alex Caruso, Jared McCain, Ajay Mitchell and rookie Bennett Stirtz for larger roles while Williams and Wallace recover.
