Tim Scott dodges whether he'd accept Alaska Senate result

On NBC News' Meet the Press, Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., refused to say whether he would accept the Alaska Senate race results if Democrat Mary Peltola is certified the winner, telling moderator Kristen Welker "Dan Sullivan is going to win, Kristen" and declining to directly answer a second time. Scott, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, repeated allegations that Democrats worked to recruit a different candidate named Dan J. Sullivan and said "you can’t trust Mary Peltola’s campaign and the collusion between her campaign and the DSCC." The New York Times reported Democrats allegedly sought to recruit Dan J. Sullivan; the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee said it "is not involved with Dan J. Sullivan," and Peltola said she knew nothing about other candidates. NBC News noted the Justice Department had already filed a lawsuit in Alaska seeking to block certification if Dan S. Sullivan loses, citing potential voter confusion. After the Times report, President Donald Trump called for Peltola and the challenger to be removed from the ballot and prosecuted, and Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy ordered a state investigation into whether the alleged scheme violated state law.
