Lions trade up, draft Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore at No. 44
Detroit traded up six spots to No. 44 in the second round and selected Michigan edge rusher Derrick Moore. Moore recorded 30 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery for Michigan in 2025. The Lions moved to add a physical, speed-to-power pass rusher WHO can set the edge in the run game and complement Aidan Hutchinson, addressing a clear defensive need and boosting depth on Day 2.
No. 44, Detroit Lions: Derrick Moore, EDGE, Michigan Gonna be honest, I think this is a round too early for Moore. What he does really well is convert speed to power and he's well built, but his run game work needs work and he needs some more counters to his pass rush plan.
No. 45, Baltimore Ravens: Zion Young, EDGE, Missouri I thought this would be the guy the Lions picked, but this is a PERFECT need and player fit for the Ravens. One of the strongest EDGE defenders in the run game, Young is limited as a pass rusher but he's an early down demon
Do you think DET made this move to jump in front of BAL since Jesse Minter was Moore's coach in college and may have taken him over Zion? Just a thought....
