Trump administration fires entire National Science Board
The Trump administration abruptly dismissed all 24 members of the National Science Board by email without offering an explanation. Congress created the National Science Board in 1950 to advise and oversee the National Science Foundation, which awards roughly $9 billion in research grants each year. The removals follow the administration's proposal to slash the NSF budget and remove a key layer of independent oversight for grant policies and leadership decisions. Scientists and some lawmakers warn the move could politicize funding decisions, disrupt long-term research programs, and weaken U.S. scientific competitiveness.
Last Friday, Trump fired the National Science Board. The NSB is made up of distinguished scientists whose job is to oversee the National Science Foundation, setting research priorities by thinking beyond election cycles. It was designed to be independent. We don't know what this means, but it's bad.
It's likely Trump wants to replace the board with corporate cronies -- we've seen a shift in his second term towards funding priorities that benefit Silicon Valley (AI, materials science) and the biotech industry. NSF is basically drifting towards being a taxpayer-funded R&D division for business.
At its core, science is about curiosity and rational thinking. Trump's point of view: A) Curiosity = a mental illness. Belittle and avoid curious people. B) Rational Thinking = a mental illness. Belittle and avoid rational people.
‘More destruction of science’: Trump fires every member of US national science board www.rawstory.com/trump-scienc...
The the hell? Destroying the future of our nation
The dumbing down of America continues 😡
Science is currently keeping that walking cadaver alive. You'd think he would be more pro-science. We're going backwards.
What is his rationale/justification for this?
What better way to squash that story than a dinner he has never gone to with a shooting where no one got shot 🤔
This is EXTREMELY BIG 🔥 🇺🇸TODAY Trump : Fired all 24 National Science Board members, who oversee $9B in NSF research funding. 🇺🇸YESTERDAY Zohran : “Trump is telling that medicare funding is implausible, but $500 MILLION/day to kill people in Iran is necessary.”🔥 🇺🇸NYC mayor Zohran was absolutely
right about Trump. He will stop all essential funding just to satisfy his ego by waging illegal wars.🔥🔥
Maybe safe to say DJT is a career SADIST who HATES America & gets off on & paid by inflicting suffering & death! Americans tried to hold him accountable: no healthcare, food, jobs, housing; no disaster relief! Blow fisherman out the water; kidnap or kill foreign heads of state; get their resources!
Zohran forgot three very important words...... "ALL FOR ISRAEL".
Correct me if I’m wrong please, but I think Mamdani can’t run for POTUS? That is such a pity if it is the case. He sounds like - no, he IS the kind of person the US desperately needs for the job.
If Medicare is such a drain on the government since the 1940’s, then why is there so much there for military and republican discretionary spending and all of Trumps personal vanity projects?
