Elon Musk criticizes Lupita Nyong’o casting in Nolan’s The Odyssey
Elon Musk said Christopher Nolan 'lost his integrity' if Lupita Nyong'o is cast as Helen of Troy in Nolan's film The Odyssey. This comment repeats Musk's earlier criticism and arrived three months after he first raised objections to the reported casting. Helen of Troy is classically described as the world's most beautiful woman and ancient texts do not specify her race, so Nolan's casting choice is an interpretive decision with clear implications for on-screen representation.
I am sorry but elon has been crashing out for nearly a week about *lupita nyong’o* being cast as a famously beautiful person????
elon has reached a level of racism at this point that probably has other racists going “wow that’s pretty racist man”
How dare one of the most beautiful women in the modern world be cast as one of the most beautiful women in history. 🙄
Cleopatra looked exactly like Liz Taylor. - Elon Musk
If Zeus in the form a swan fucks a woman and their child is born from an egg, it's obvious the child has to be white. That's just science, innit?
my "it's ridiculous to imagine that a Black woman could be considered the most beautiful woman in history" t-shirt is answering a lot of questions, etc. etc.
Wasn't Troy a Hittite city? Of course Helen could've been black. How fucking dumb is Elon?
I don't personally care about Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, but I hate that Elon and his hitlerite legions are *making me* care about defending this film, actually. If I do see it, I look forward to Lupita Nyong'o's performance. I'm sure she'll do a wonderful job.
pretty unlikely for an ancient Greek to have blue eyes but I don't see him screeching about Matt Damon.
Right? She is STUNNING, my reaction (as a straight gal) was oh, yeah, absolutely she is Helen.
Everyone is burying the lede on this: she is double-cast as Clytemnestra, raising the tantalizing possibility that we will get to see Lupita Nyong'o axe-murder Agamemnon in cold blood in his bath. FILM IT, NOLAN, PROVE YOU AREN'T A COWARD!
The movie is going to be mediocre and it's going to be because of the casting. Specifically the casting of Matt Damon as Odysseus. I have been pissed off since I found out.
His turn on Better Call Saul made me think Tony Dalton would make an amazing Odysseus.
Dumb, racist nerds like Musk think there weren't any Black people in Greece during the pre-Classical era. Presumably because they're too stupid to look at a map.
Wait until he hears about where Andromeda is from.
How to be an Alpha Male(TM): *checks notes* 'Be the most fragile, entitled motherfucker ever and wallow in sorrowful loneliness'
Fun fact! Black people existed in Ancient Greece. I wish all bigots a very die mad about it.
Yeah. Not enough clown shoes in his closet imo.
i got so accustomed to not knowing what elon thinks about anything over here, i kinda forgot that apparently being the richest person in the world cannot save you from being too online
THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE FEBRUARY variety.com/2026/film/ne...
“Desecrating Homer!” This jerkoff listened to a podcast about the Iliad at 2x speed.
Imagine being so racist you can't appreciate beauty.
I wonder if they're going to give odysseus red hair. Personally I am not planning on seeing the movie because nolan hates audible dialogue with a passion and I will wait for subtitles, but getting so upset about Helen being gorgeous and not looking like a wine bottle (rimshot) definitely is silly
Casting a pasty Bostonite as the king of Ithaca seems more out of line. Maybe he's just mad they didn't cast someone who actually hatched from an egg, like Helen did?
I want to see Musk describe three of his favorite parts from The Odyssey without looking anything up or using AI. "Um, well... You know, it's... Um, actually, wow... Really the whole odyssey is interesting... Everything Homer does in it is, like, so good."
Even better that Homer probably wasn’t even one guy and certainly wasn’t white lmfao
So much to unpack. But can we start with “desecrating Homer”?
And knowing Nolan, he had no idea what Musk is yelling about
she's drop-dead gorgeous, to an extant that it says something about the people who don't think so.
Tbh I bet Elon has not actually read Homer.
Elon Musk is so racist that I'm pretty sure all his pillowcases are white with eyeholes in them.
So, if/when this movie succeeds. You know they’ll switch and claim it’s not woke.
my god. 'desecrating homer'. Its...not even history. its a story with gods in it. its historical fantasy. and for fucks sake, she could have looked like literally anyone because she probably didn't exist IRL. I have no words for how dumb this man is.
A famously mildly attractive in a good light person, according to Eric. 😄
"Everything was white. Look at the statues!"
Shitheads. I can't stand Elon. Remember when he said POTUS was all over the Epstein files? And now he's on Air Force One with the president. I don't know how anyone trusts him about anything. Plus he's an obvious racist. There are few people in this world I disrespect more than Elon Musk.
Good to know the richest man in the world has nothing better to do than to be mad a famously beautiful person is cast to play a famously beautiful person
Beautiful and supremely talented actor taking on the character of a beautiful and supremely talented woman. Elon's glacier of accumulated snowflake grievances against women and people of African origin are all triggered.
Also, "desecrating Homer" as if this dude's ever actually read the odyssey. Mfer is just mad about black people. We need to send this guy to Mars.
She probably turned him down for a date. Some guys just can’t take no.
A famously beautiful FICTIONAL person, no less. But somehow they will still tell you that Jesus looked like Ted Nugent.
My feelings on the "Odyssey"/Lupita discourse are three: 1. The ESSENCE of oral storytelling is/was adapting tales for the audience and the context. 2. I buy Lupita Nyong'o as a woman armies would go to war for. Shrug. 3. EVERY single person whining about Lupita as Helen is a garbage person.
I guarantee you that there were nights when "Homer" was reciting "The Odyssey" and he looked out at the audience and saw a sea of olive skin and varied features that his description of Helen of Troy was not, "Um, she was a pale cute blonde with a button nose and a body that wouldn't quit."
Hard agree with the third point. Does Elon Think every one in ancient Greece had blue eyes and blond hair... Cause that would be a no, dude.
