Shrek 5 teaser trailer released, film set for Summer 2027
DreamWorks and Universal Pictures released the first official teaser for Shrek 5, confirming a June 30, 2027 theatrical release. The trailer shows returning characters Shrek, Fiona and Gingy and confirms Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz will reprise their roles. It introduces Shrek and Fiona's sons, voiced by Skyler Gisondo and Marcello Hernandez, and previews an updated animation look. The revival reunites the original core cast with new voices for a major family tentpole that anchors DreamWorks' summer 2027 slate.
No, DreamWorks is not changing the #Shrek5 art style with a year left until its release just because you can’t accept hyperrealism isn’t the trending style anymore and that they’re allowed to try something new with our current technology like they did with Puss in Boots.
see what I personally find funny is the complaints about the casual swearing and pop culture references....like, are people so nostalgia-poisoned they forgot what the original movies were actually like?
The Sonic redesign really gave some people this idea that they can just change anything if they want it
People got waaaaay too comfortable of demanding changes for the designs they didn’t like just because it works for Sonic Movie 1.
Honestly, I didn't mind the art style for Shrek 5, it looked like how 90% perfect of DreamWorks movies would. Sure it may not look like how it was for the last four movies but times change and all that jazz.
Honestly, the animation style isn't that bad. It's not the original Sonic movie levels.
I got called the r slur for not realizing the difference in animation Like yeah Donkey looks more furry but Shrek atleast to me looks somewhat the same TmT
I could be wrong about the final product, but I've always kinda feared how irony-poisoned a Shrek revival might be, and the trailers do not inspire much confidence. At this rate there's a non-zero chance they'd reference "Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life" with how self-referential Shrek 5 looks.
Star Shrek V: The Final Layer Dir. by William Shrekner A rogue ogre is traveling to the center of the universe to find the great onion but instead finds a turnip.
The announcement teaser basically being one long TikTok joke about Shrek's meme culture feels like a warning.
