CBC's visual investigation of satellite photos and video shows a section of the Gaza War Cemetery in the Tuffah district of Gaza City was completely destroyed; the site contains graves and memorials for 22 Canadian peacekeepers who died on UN missions. The imagery shows above-ground structures reduced to rubble, grave markers removed, and cratered damage consistent with deep underground blasts and with bulldozing. CBC's analysis attributes that damage to Israeli Defense Forces operations in the area. Families told CBC they are heartbroken, and the destruction raises questions about protection of Commonwealth war graves and will prompt calls for investigation and accountability.
