Pentagon restores mandatory flu shots after boot camp outbreak
Pete Hegseth proudly announced that flu vaccines were no longer required for the military. Predictably, a flu outbreak has descended upon the Air Force’s boot camp. Flu vaccines are again required for all new recruits.
Every regulation is written in blood.
Two months. It took two months since announcing the end of the vaccine mandate before they had to reverse course because of an outbreak. Think about that and reckon with it. That's how fast anti-vax policy can bite back.
I suppose we could say "He did his OWN research"
Framing things as a “personal freedom” issue for soldiers misunderstands what being a soldier is: the smallest amount of personal freedom outside of a prison. The fact leg breath doesn’t know this isn’t all that surprising, he did the bare minimum national guard to legally say he served.
Again? Deny science and suffer the consequences.....again....again....and again.... Put stupid people in high positions and expect stupid stuff......again....again....and again....
"I Am An Idiot," the autobiography of Pete Hegseth.
Some people just have to learn the hard way.
And at least one person died.
Regardless of what Pete said, aren't these supposed to be our best and brightest. And they don't know enough to continue getting vaccines like their mom taught them.
Just Chesterton Fencing their way through government
A lot of this administration's decision making comes down to the fact that some of the worst dudes you know are still mad about that one time their mom wouldn't let them have mountain dew for breakfast. (the rest of it is eugenics, christofacism, and white supremacy)
Apparently Hegseth wanted to "do his own research" on vaccines.

Whoever could have predicted? 🧐
A danger to himself and others and should have to wear a reflective vest.
Listen to that proud announcement
He could’ve just learned from history, but nope. He had to make the mistake himself first.
We have reached the "find out" portion of the proceedings, at least with respect to flu vaccines.
The department of defense was attacked while its defenses were down. Will throwing more money at them make them smarter?
That was a two-month turnaround for that FAFO decision. Impressive.
Lackland flu outbreak gets worse w/275 recruits now reported ill after Hegseth makes shots optional, saying he was "restoring freedom to our Joint Force.” Neither the Pentagon nor AETC are sharing the numbers, but Rep Joaquín Castro did. Pete Hegseth is a f*cking moron.
