Buckingham Palace said King Charles III paid £12.9 million in personal tax for 2024, 25 and will not live at Buckingham Palace after the planned refit. The palace said Charles and Queen Camilla will remain at Clarence House and that Buckingham Palace will continue as the monarchy's administrative headquarters. Buckingham Palace added that Charles has paid more than £30 million in personal taxes since his accession in September 2022 and that this is the first time a reigning British monarch has disclosed a personal tax bill. The decision follows a planned 10-year, £369 million refurbishment of Buckingham Palace to address urgent repairs and modernization. Palace officials said routine official duties and state events will continue to be based at Buckingham Palace during and after the works.
