Türkiye scored in the 98th minute at SoFi Stadium to beat the United States 3-2, spoiling what would have been a perfect group-stage record. The U.S. had already secured first place in Group D before the stoppage-time goal and finished the group with six points. The Americans fielded a reserve-heavy lineup for the finale; Christian Pulisic returned during the match and the side mounted a second-half fight-back but could not avoid the late winner. The U.S. will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Cup Round of 32 in Santa Clara, California, on July 1.

Scoreboard is what it is, so they lost ... though they're in position to assess the game overall instead of just the score ... and to that extent, they probably outplayed Turkey. They just suck at defense and failed to capitalize on a few excellent opportunities.

I agree with this (and Poch’s decision to play mostly backups). Game was quite open / defending was questionable, but we won the group and have essentially the full squad fit (except perhaps Trusty, hope it was minor).

FT: #usmnt 2-3 Türkiye. Tough to know what to feel after this. The late goal is a gut punch for sure. But there were some players, Berhalter among them, who grew into the game & will be better for it. Pulisic's return provides hope. For sure, the U.S. will know that nothing can be taken for granted.

I am just going to beat a dead horse: the US Team was second in Group Play in 2022 and had to get out of that group with a dramatic last minute score against England. I would rather to have a game where we avoid a red card for key players and make sure Christian Pulisic’s calf is fine.
