David1Disagree. The 2026 roster only played together for a week. Mendoza was one of the worst managers in baseball. He cost them many games in 2025 and many so far in 2026. The Mets won in 2024 in spite of him. Stearns biggest offense is not firing him after 2025 disaster.

Carlos Mendoza was far from perfect. However, it was ultimately David Stearns who failed the manager, players, fans plus Steve and Alex Cohen

GW-RBI2It's cowardice, on any team, to fire the manager when the GM is the one responsible for putting square pegs in round holes. They players do have responsibility, of course, but it never ceases to tick me off the GM isn't held as accountable as the Manager.
David1Far from perfect is an understatement. He's one of the worst managers in all of baseball at any level. Different rosters same problem. Never got a feel for starter management. Consistently awful bullpen management. And the biggest sin: no accountability. Team checked out and quit on him.

I don't think most of this was Carlos Mendoza's fault. But the #Mets were horrible for a full calendar year, and when that's true, there are no unjust dismissals. Now get to work on fixing the larger problems.
Jack3Certainly the roster wasn't Mendoza's fault but the glaring lack of fundamentals, the horrendous bullpen management, and the dart board lineups were. Happy he's gone, but wary of Stearns picking another. This redo has to go down to the studs. #Mets

Alvin Ashcraft2The bats have underperformed under his entire tenure. Even when they were doing well, they could have been better. Not sure that's his fault, but hopefully a shake-up will make a difference. The pitching is still a bit of a mess, regardless of coaching.
