Newcastle rule out sale of Bruno Guimarães
🚨 Arsenal made verbal offer to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle. #AFC proposal via agents below £60m - rejected + #NUFC say sale of 28yo #Brazil int’l midfielder will not be entertained W/ @gunnerblog.bsky.social @chrisdhwaugh.bsky.social @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/739...
Yeah and Isak wasn’t for sale either. Welcome to Arsenal Bruno
Not a NUFC or AFC fan, but <£60m is disrespectful to one of the best CM/ in the league despite age and length of contract remaining. Appreciate Spuds love getting bent over and Brighton are the kings of coming up from behind, but that bang average Dutch defender cost £52m with one year remaining…
Market value ≠ value to NUF Arsenal would have to bid stupid money to get us to talk and, unlike some clubs, they dont tend to do that. If they need strength in depth in midfield theres a whole heap of cheaper options who wouldn't expect to start every game
He’s not hanging around at Newcastle let’s be honest. Project is on its knees and there will be a manager change within a couple months of the season starting.
Yeah good, move away from this fool
Was that for a signed autograph? Absolute insult of an offer
When we made the verbal offer, were we covering our mouth?
I would prefer Arsenal to not sign him. Yes, he’s a beast of a player but he’s also a massive cnut.
Absent ownership, a shite season coupled with zero evidence of an actual project (training ground, stadium), players rejecting us on a weekly basis. A knackered and bored squad playing for a Manager that has lost his way. All of this has made us weak in everyone’s eyes, resulting in this.
Ugh the replies to this sound like Twatter Jesus wept #nufc
£60m is more than I'd have offered for him
I'd prefer a younger player in midfield and ideally someone who hasn't spent the last few years continuously rattling me but my word Bruno Guimarães really is really really good.
Hi Lewis, fancy coming our pod to discuss the Bruno links and maybe some other transfer news. Out Host Holly likes the Bruno links but I, Stef, need convincing (can't get past the rattling 🤣)
Some of these links have me wondering if we aren’t going to see Rice,Saka, or Saliba Start until after the first Intl break. I think it would be amazing team management. The boys must knackered after last season and the WC.
If this is as the “Jorginho / Norgaar” role in the squad I’m all for it
Arsenal talks with Bruno Guimaraes' representatives. Newcastle braced for approach. [Craig Hope - Daily Mail] www.dailymail.com/sport/footba...
Does this character come with red card immunity amulet?
How would ever finish 90mins for us?
I dont want him. I dont see how he fits in unless we get rid of some key players.
This only makes sense to me if we're selling Zubimendi. The one thing we don't need is another 6/8 in his late 20s. Also he'd be a booking machine in an Arsenal shirt. And the Zubi fee would basically have to be the same as we're spending on Guimaraes. I'm calling it: this is Grade A nonsense.
On the one hand this makes no sense. On the other, can anyone say with confidence that Mikel Arteta's perfect midfield 3 isn't three defensive midfielders? Because I can't.
Just to say, whilst I agree he’s a bastard, Bruno Guimaraes would be a yes from me. ‘Soft’ reasons aside, his versatility, forward passing from deep & outstanding set-piece delivery just shouts Arsenal player to me 🤷🏽♂️ But…it does make me worry that we’re worried about big Dec 😬
With Dec tho, I quite like how Mik has drawn parallels with a lad he used to play alongside at ours, who wanted to play every possible minute for club and country, and has been like ‘nah, I’m not having you wash out before you’re 30 and doing a sad unveiling at Man United over a daft little piano’
or Zubi's form collapse may be more then just physical exhaustion?
Managing an issue for 6 months and he's barely getting a rest this summer? I think they're right to be worried. Bruno G comes in and he's a genuine contender, so neither Rice nor Zubi get burnt out the way they have this season. Also adds to the bastardness of the squad.
