Newcastle rule out sale of Bruno Guimarães

Newcastle United have told Bruno Guimarães' representatives they will not entertain offers for the club captain. Arsenal have opened talks and made a formal approach in the last 24 hours, according to Fabrizio Romano. Newcastle rejected an opening proposal below £60m and immediately turned down a planned £55m approach, saying they will not sell the 28-year-old Brazil international at that fee. A Swedish report says Arsenal is preparing a second bid. One report says Bruno must immediately delete a video he posted about Arsenal if he wants a Gunners move. Newcastle's stance blocks Arsenal's opening approach and means only a significantly improved offer or a change in Newcastle's position would trigger further talks.

Absent ownership, a shite season coupled with zero evidence of an actual project (training ground, stadium), players rejecting us on a weekly basis. A knackered and bored squad playing for a Manager that has lost his way. All of this has made us weak in everyone’s eyes, resulting in this.

First and foremost, he’s a thoroughly unpleasant chap. Paying north of £55m for a player who’s 29 in a few months isn’t great future proofing BUT he is a bloody good player. Bouaddi would be my first choice (even if I think he’d need an adaptation period), I really like Alex Scott too though.

We have clearly had encouragement from somewhere to go in for Bruno Guimaraes, and I believe that will be from the players’ camp. He’s watching all their best players leave and he’s wanting to force a move before Tonali, which would make it even harder to leave. He would be a good signing for us IMO
