West Bank parents plead for end to child killings, Guardian reports

West Bank parents, asking 'Is it Israel’s aim to kill our children?', have implored an end to what they call impunity for killings by the Israel Defense Forces, the Guardian reports. The paper says Israeli forces have killed 235 children in the West Bank since 7 October 2023 and that there has been not a single indictment in those cases, a situation rights groups describe as a 'licence to kill'. Parents in the report demand independent investigations and protection for children, and they call for accountability from Israeli authorities. A UN commission of inquiry said Israeli authorities and security forces deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip and war crimes in the West Bank. Rights groups and parents link the lack of prosecutions to continued lethal operations that endanger minors. The immediate calls are for investigations and international oversight to secure protections and legal recourse for grieving families.
