Pubs allowed to stay open until 5am for England v Mexico World Cup match
I want Londoners to be able to enjoy Monday’s England game with friends, family and their local community. I welcome the Prime Minister urgently looking at ways to let pubs stay open later, so fans can come together to cheer on the Three Lions against Mexico. 🏴
What will they serve? Tea? Or will they then go to work half cut *and* sleep-deprived?
given the likelihood of defeat, not sure this is a good idea! has anybody asked Sarah Pochin??
Only Londoners? Imagine if someone from the north was prime minister.
Starmer has granted an emergency licence to allow pubs to stay open until 5am on Monday. Absolutely no one is making it to work on Monday.
🚨 BREAKING: Keir Starmer will introduce emergency legislation tomorrow to let all pubs stay open until 5am for England’s 1am match against Mexico on Monday
I do not go to pubs but they do play a role in our society - have done for years. So many closing every day - give them a break. Football is important to so many - the camaraderie of the English fans is refreshing to see in their joy as England play. Our PM just can't win ...
FFS. A broken night's sleep and pissheads roaming about first thing in the morning whether or not we give a toss about the football. It seens In-ger-land is compulsory now.
Pubs in England and Wales will be able to stay open till 5am on Monday morning to show the England v Mexico game without having to apply for extended hours, the government has announced
if you wanna stay up to 5am on a Monday morning to watch england quite possibly lose a penalty shoot out then good luck to you is all I can say
Good of him to make it easy for the Welsh to cheer on their old allies in Mexico, but what about the Scots, eh? (Yes, yes, I know, you don’t need to explain it to me)
I only stay up until 5am if there are repetitive beats playing. Not a chance I watch even a minute of the next one.
Monday morning commute will be interesting.
12 or so hours of drinking, potential disappointment, trying to make it home in darkness and then show up for work a few hours later? Definitely sounds like something the English won't abuse. Can't see any potential issues there.
When I worked in the area I'd occasionally visit the Fox and Anchor opposite Smithfield market very early in the morning. Despite it being the absolute dream when I was a teenager I would not advise. It's like giving yourself jetlag and takes days to recover.
