Tadej Pogacar powered to victory on Stage 3 of the 2026 Tour de France, blasting away rivals on the final slopes into Les Angles to take the stage win and the maillot jaune on countback over Jonas Vingegaard. The 195.9km stage started in Granollers and included almost 4,000 metres of climbing, with the final roughly 44 kilometres in France, including the third-category Col du Calvaire and the climb to Les Angles, closed to spectators because of wildfires in the eastern Pyrenees. Pogacar credited teammate Isaac del Toro for helping set up the move that let him surge to the finish, and his winning burst on the climb handed him yellow despite being tied on overall time with Vingegaard. The victory was reported as Pogacar’s 22nd Tour de France stage win, drawing him level with André Darrigade on the all-time list. Race director Christian Prudhomme said the decision to bar roadside spectators was taken with state authorities, and organisers limited the route to riders and essential vehicles. Pogacar’s UAE Team Emirates-XRG had been expected to push a hard pace on the medium-mountain day after their earlier one-two on stage two, and the result hands Pogacar the lead going into stage four.
