Cal Raleigh hits first‑pitch grand slam after Reds load bases

With the bases loaded after Cincinnati intentionally walked Dominic Canzone, Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh crushed the first pitch he saw from Caleb Ferguson for a grand slam to left field. The homer traveled an estimated 408 feet with a 102.1 mph exit velocity and 30 degree launch angle and came with one out in the seventh inning, making the score 7-0. George Kirby pitched six scoreless innings and the Mariners bullpen completed an 8-0 shutout in the final. Victor Robles went 4-for-4 in the game. The decision to load the bases to face Raleigh drew immediate second-guessing after the slam and capped a rout that moved Seattle back into position atop the AL West in coverage of the game.

The Reds taunted the baseball gods and lost. Bring in the lefty, yet intentionally walk lefty-hitting Dom Canzone to face the slumping Cal Raleigh with the bases loaded, and he immediately makes a sandwich. That's the thing that breaks a slump. Mariners need to send Cincinnati a thank you card.
