The Baltimore Orioles beat the Boston Red Sox 5-1 in the nightcap of Wednesday’s doubleheader, snapping Boston’s 15-game winning streak that had tied the franchise mark set in 1946. Baltimore plated four runs in the top of the first off rookie opener Eduardo Rivera, who recorded two outs on 41 pitches and was pulled after walking Jackson Holliday. Dylan Beavers delivered a two-run single and Jonathan Rodriguez’s scorched liner bounced off the Green Monster to allow a run to score in the first. Kyle Bradish followed with six strong innings for the Orioles, allowing one run on four hits while striking out four; Bradish recently signed a five-year, $90 million extension. Brayan Bello relieved Rivera and tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings in his first appearance since being demoted to Triple-A on June 4, stranding Rivera’s inherited runners. Boston’s lone run came in the fourth when Willson Contreras doubled and Masataka Yoshida hit an RBI single. Interim manager Chad Tracy said the team is proud of the 15-game run and acknowledged that the streak was always going to end.

Fenway is a magical place. A venue where we gather, stay engaged, and expect solid* baseball. Solid, not “15 game winning streak”, baseball. So, that run was a gift and the players (and Chad Tracy!) deserve their flowers for sure. * opposed to April and May 😬

I find baseball boring, but going to a Red Sox game at Fenway is amazing. The crowd is far more interesting to me than the game. Whole blocks of seats have been held by multiple generations who great “neighbors” like family. Don’t miss the experience if you get the chance.

My mom had been a massive Red Sox fan my whole life (I was born in 1990) I literally do not have the ability to forget Red Sox are allowed to lose games, I still remember in 2004 when my mom woke me up to tell me they were going to the World Series
