Patrick Kane returns to Chicago Blackhawks, two-year deal

Patrick Kane signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday worth an $8 million average annual value and including a full no-move clause. Kane left Chicago at the 2023 trade deadline, has won three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks and will begin his 20th NHL season; he turns 38 in November. General manager Kyle Davidson said Kane “captivated the city of Chicago” and praised his history of winning at the highest levels. Kane ranks third in franchise games played (1,161), third in goals (446), second in assists (779) and second in points (1,225) for the Blackhawks. Kane has trained in Chicago in recent offseasons and maintained ties to the club, including keeping a stall in the Blackhawks dressing room. Connor Bedard said he would be excited to play with Kane and called the matchup “incredible,” highlighting the possibility they could skate together. Kane is the last active member of the seven Blackhawks players who won three Stanley Cups with the team, a distinction that positions him to further cement his franchise legacy if he finishes his career in Chicago.

Patrick Kane (2x8m deal with Chicago) has (mostly) bounced back from the injury issues that had him seemingly knocked out of relevance; is extremely good at passing the puck to someone who will score. Weak defensively, a good finisher, doesn't create offence anymore.
