Strange New Worlds Season 4 premieres on Paramount+
Another thing - I understand people boycotting Paramount over *gestures arm vaguely at everything* So I'll also say - I hope you enjoy the new season of #StrangeNewWorlds However you manage to watch it
If Strange New Worlds had an issue with piracy why is one of their best characters a pirate? Checkmate liberals
I have no idea what you mean, Seán.
As I always say, regardless of the political/greedy leanings of Paramount, I think it’s important to support those who worked on the shows and the shows themselves. We’ve all obviously seen the impact it can have on them when things go badly, because of how poorly SFA was treated.
I can't wait to see it
Watch it however you can, but I would suggest to actually subscribe for a single month of the 4 final episodes, and stream all the Star Trek you can in that month, and cancel, so when they check their data, they know exactly what makes you vote with your wallet. The creators also need recognition.
My rewatch of TOS kind of hit a standstill after Academy got canned. So I was gonna pass on watching SNW this time around since that's cancelled too, but to deprive myself of a show I love because of the bastards in charge really feels like caving in to their whims.
So wait. in Strange New Worlds for three seasons they've been fighting extensively with the Gorn, the Gorn raid planets and kill tons of people, and in "Arena" Kirk and the gang are like "Gorn? Who are these mysterious Gorn?"
its a pretty big retcon! there's been a few of those.
Wait until you hear about the time Kirk didn't know that Spock's father was one of the Federation's major diplomats.
time travel shenanigans messed up everything from first contact with the Gorn to Khan's birthday
Seven's parents went out to study the Borg when she was just a kid. But when Picard ran into them he didn't know who they were.
My hottest take is that the Gorn in SNW are incompatible with life in the wider galaxy, and as an existential threat to all species should probably be glassed from orbit Exterminatus style. They're a horrific species that probably should be exterminated, but Starfleet is too chickenshit to do it.
Most Aliens are 'first contact' by the crew of SOME enterprise. For prequels, everything either becomes off-limits, or must be shoehorned as an 'off the record secret'. A shameless retcon can free the show up to be a fun show. Beating around the bush TOO often makes starfleet look even more dumb.
So given what we know about Strange New Worlds I’m ready for the gatekeepers to complain “How dare they make Kirk and Spock a thing” Showing once again they have never paid attention to Star Trek.
I love canon. I praise canon. And I've adored every Kirk & Spock scene in SNW. Especially the start when I thought, "Oh, Nyota. Everybody can blame you for putting these two menaces together." The fake canon-/gatekeepers can burn on their ill-gotten latinum, for all I care.
Some of the "gatekeeper" stuff is getting to point given the state of things that I can't tell what's bait for engagement or some basement dwelling trolls actual thoughts.
I thought we were complaining that they weren’t making Kirk and Spock a thing?* I can’t keep up. *but not complaining as gatekeepers. I’m holding open the gate to all.* *(Unless anyone tries to walk through it while bashing my boy Jay’Den. Then I’ll smash it in their face. But apart from that...)
I am looking forward to using all the laugh emojis when that happens! 😂
