Newcastle agree up to £34m deal for Aladji Bamba from Monaco

Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to £34m to sign Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba. The 20-year-old Frenchman, who made his first senior appearance in August 2025, is due on Tyneside on Thursday to undergo a medical and sign a long-term contract. The move follows Newcastle's sale of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham last month and their earlier signing of 18-year-old Sean Steur from Ajax as the club seeks a second young midfielder. Another reported target, Freiburg's Johan Manzambi, chose Aston Villa last week, leaving Bamba as a priority addition. Among Ligue 1 midfielders who logged at least 500 minutes last season, Bamba ranked in the top five for duels won (9.1 per game), tackles (3.6), successful take-ons (1.6) and aerial duels won (1.9).

If the bid doesn't start with a 9 (& Bruno doesn't kick off), he'll be going nowhere. #NUFC
