Lando Norris claimed pole position at the Hungaroring with a final lap that beat Lewis Hamilton, who qualified second, ahead of Charles Leclerc in third and Andrea Kimi Antonelli in fourth. Antonelli is under investigation for a potential yellow-flag infringement after his final lap was compromised by earlier incidents and a deleted Q2 time for cutting turn seven. Max Verstappen spun at the final corner, his third significant spin in four weekends, bringing out yellow flags that disrupted several drivers’ laps and forcing George Russell to slow; Russell then stopped at turn one after his final lap. Verstappen and Russell will start immediately behind Oscar Piastri, who qualified fifth. Race control opened an investigation into a potential impeding incident involving Piastri and Hamilton; a McLaren driver and Hamilton are also being probed for possible impeding. Isack Hadjar recovered from a Q2 spin to start eighth, ahead of Arvid Lindblad and Nico Hülkenberg, while Aston Martin reached Q2 for the first time this season on merit with Fernando Alonso 16th.
