San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a car crash on July 14 at the intersection of Alma Street and Hamilton Avenue in Palo Alto, according to a Palo Alto police report and a team statement. The report says Shanahan collided with an SUV and sustained fractures to his nose, ribs and hand; he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and the SUV driver was not injured. Police said no one has been cited and drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved. Shanahan will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp and has mostly been working from home with brief trips to the team facility. Assistant head coach/offensive line Chris Foerster will run training camp with assistance from defensive coordinator Raheem Morris and others; veterans report Saturday and the first practice is scheduled for Sunday.
