Black Panther 3 casts David Jonsson as T’Challa II, Dec 15, 2028
Black Panther 3 will be released December 15th, 2028. David Jonsson will star as T'Challa's son in the film.
His ascension is set after Shuri dies from measles, correct?
he was the best part of Alien: Romulus
He was great in Alien: Romulus
I know actors routinely play younger, but unless there's another big time skip shouldn't this character be about 10 years old?
Okay, I am generally so out on marvel, but this is really exciting casting
Love this so much. Watched both movies again, in July.
Jonsson made the otherwise wretched Alien: Romulus watchable and brought everything to The Long Walk, I cannot imagine what it will be like to see him working with someone as cool as Ryan Coogler
I was about to be mad then remembered the actor who plays Shuri is insane, carry on
The timeline for this character's life is pretty funky unless they jump way ahead again, but Jonsson is good
If you haven’t seen him in Rye Lane, do so immediately. He’s great, and it’s one of the best romcoms in years. Brilliant and funny and so relatable, while being very specific in its setting.
Oh man, good for him. Always like his work.
When I first saw him in Alien Romulus, I had a feeling his phone wouldn’t stop ringing. He’s a great choice
I was expecting Damson Idris but considering the performances that David delivered in Industry and Alien: Romulus, we’ll have a great time.
lol. he's a good actor anyway.
great casting, Coogler's back, Denzel said he's in - I'm seated
I have zero interest in the MCU, but I’m a big fan of Jonsson. I might even upgrade my interest to mild.
'Black Panther 3' has been officially announced • Ryan Coogler is returning to direct • David Jonsson has been cast as T'Challa's son • Letitia Wright will return as Shuri • Releasing in theaters December 15, 2028
No word on who Denzel is playing? Good for David Johnson though, he’s about to blow up and he deserves movie star status, dude’s super talented.
Amazing pick let’s go Wakanda Forever
I'm excited about this. I couldn't rewatch the last one. It hurt too much. So hopefully less grieving and more whooping ass
Did they also just accidentally spoil M'Baku is dead as fuck?
Off-topic: David Jonsson é muito talentoso e carismático. To feliz que ele conseguiu um papel de grande destaque, mesmo que seja pra Marvel.
I swear to god I thought that this was already announced and that Coogler was courting Denzel Washington for the bad guy? Did I hallucinate that?
David Jonsson is fantastic in Industry, can't wait for this
Porra eu tava gostando dos rumores que diziam que o Danson Idris seria o filho do T’Challa, mas David Jonsson é uma escolha inspiradíssima! Depois de Alien Romulus eu confio nele pra qualquer papel
oh motherfucker they might have me with david jonsson. damn.
Cêis tinham que ver como é bonitinho menino Faramir imitando o Pantera Negra com as mãozinhas imitando as garras
If Coogler is directing, I am watching.
Best of luck to David navigating the Elon-exacerbated online harassment heading his way... Lord knows Disney PR will not be providing aid or assistance... #FizzVsComics
Marvel's like, "Shit, we really need a hit... and we fucked up Blade... let's check which series has been consistently making us oodles..."

He is going to crush this role. Phenomenal actor. Inspired casting. Wild coogler is returning.
hell yeah that's freaking epic
Hell yeah - I've only watched him in two movies that I can recall - Alien Romulus and The Long Walk - but man, he was so present in each. The biggest character on the screen.
Big time skip? I thought he was an infant in 2
Utterly unsurprised he's getting The Big Roles, dude is unreal as an actor. God I need to get around to watching BP2
Coogler is filming this one on 70MM this is gonna look crazy.
I’m invested more that Coogler is finishing his trilogy, and they picked up on the T’Challa’s son (his name is also T’Challa) tease at the end of 2. I want to see what Coogler could do with a sequel that isn’t screwed over by outside tragedies
thats gonna rip, he tore it up in alien
Suddenly very, very seated for BP3
*waits for the "historically inaccurate" claims* *grows a long, gray beard*
Yooooo. Yes, love him. Strap the rocket to him.
I’m looking forward to whatever Timey-Wimey bullshit they pull to age him up from being like 6
Note to self: Finally watch “Wakanda Forever”
1. The guy from Alien: Romulus? Best thing to come out of that movie, then. 2. Shuri is fucking *toast* in Doomsday/Secret Wars, huh? First movie probably opens with her just randomly detonating for no reason that’s ever explained.
‘BLACK PANTHER 3’ is officially in the works at Marvel Studios. • Ryan Coogler will return to direct. • In theaters on December 15, 2028.
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was wondering when this would be announced, but it's great to see this news, and yeah, Ryan Coogler's name is always a plus! And a December release, too?!
Thank you Marvel for being consistent with giving me a birthday movie. 🥹
The weirdest reaction to the Black Panther III announcement is people who legitimately thought Ryan Coogler wasn't going to do another Marvel film, despite mentioning in every interview during the Sinners press tour that it was his next film project. 😂
One of my least favorite things from Sinners' release was people who acted like Coogler was forced to do Marvel movies. I find it funny that there are some people who make hating Marvel such an essential part of their personality that they think Coogler is (or should) be ashamed of Black Panther. 😭
I may have my issues with Marvel, but they know to give Ryan Coogler wide creative authority. He obviously loves that world and, more importantly, the fans know that it’s not the same without him. I still think it was a gutsy thing to make WAKANDA FOREVER the way he did.
I think a lot of nerds need to realize that great filmmakers also love making big loud movies with lots of wild FX. And, like the rest of us, they grew up with characters and stories they love and want to have a hand in crafting for future generations.
So that's "BLACK PANTHER III" dated for *after* "SECRET WARS" with David Jonsson playing a character we last saw as a toddler now as an adult in his 30s. So that's at least one major "Thing that will have changed" about whatever the new reality is.
Wonder if we can get Gwenpool after Secret War…
So is the big soft reboot going to magically age up T'Challa Jr. now? Is he going to hook up with Storm later down the line?
Maybe they transplant the death of T'Chaka to T'Challa Senior in the new timeline?
Given that he's taking up the mantle, I don't like Shuri's odds of making it out of SECRET WARS alive.
'Black Panther 3' is ready to claw its way into theaters. Kevin Feige and director Ryan Coogler revealed that David Jonsson is set to star as the new Black Panther, playing an adult version of the son of T’Challa, portrayed by Chadwick Boseman in the 2018 original. bit.ly/4h2WVO1
