Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey draws strong audience praise
The Odyssey is on track to earn more than $84M over its second weekend, the most a Christopher Nolan movie has ever earned during its second weekend in release. More than $400M in nine days. Audiences didn't get the memo that it's a bad movie. You hate to see it.
Pirate 🏴☠️🏴☠️25We saw it in an IMAX - incredible. Did I have critiques, sure, but that’s to be expected when they take a 600 page book that’s part of a larger story and try to shrink it down to 3 hours and give enough context to people who haven’t read it (or the Iliad).

I thought it was weird hearing Tom Holland saying “mom and dad” instead of “mother and father” but I guess that goes with the dialogue being in American accented English.

RE: the story of Dr. Emily Wilsons' Odyssey translation in which she says she thought she'd sell 1K copies but if went bananas even before the Nolan film. As an academic author, to sell even 1,000 copies is no small feat. Academic presses believe several *hundred* copies sold is a success. 1/

saw the odyssey today and wow did nolan create an immersive experience, like the "power outage during the trailers" scene had us all literally out of our seats and when we got to the "evacuate the theatre" scene we were left only to ponder the fleeting nature of myth and history, in the parking lot
