Ryan Gosling cast as Ghost Rider, Shawn Levy to direct

Marvel Studios announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Ryan Gosling will star as Ghost Rider in a film scheduled for theatrical release in 2028, and Shawn Levy will direct. Kevin Feige made the announcement during Hall H, speaking to about 7,000 fans; Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal appeared at the panel and many attendees waited more than 24 hours to enter. The project reunites Gosling with Levy after their collaboration on Star Wars: Starfighter. Ghost Rider’s film rights recently reverted to Marvel from Sony Pictures; the character previously appeared in a 2007 standalone film starring Nicolas Cage and a 2012 sequel, but has not yet been integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s interconnected narrative. Feige also revealed a re-release of the Russo Brothers’ 2019 Avengers: Endgame on September 25 with new footage linking to Avengers: Doomsday on December 18. The 2028 release makes this Ghost Rider movie the character’s first planned entry under Marvel Studios’ banner and sets up potential MCU connections announced at the same panel.

Funny how the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic Con has generated some talk about Star Wars lol It absolutely is a really good sign that Shawn Levy (director of Starfighter) was given another movie by Disney (Ghost Rider). How great would it be to see a big Star Wars win after so much hate and doubt.

I personally love Star Wars so much that I can never get enough of that universe, and even if there's something that comes out that isn't my favorite, it's never "dead" to me at all. But I just hope we get more big wins going forward, cause any "loss" always feels especially hard to swallow.

I think a lot of the focus on the negativity about Star Wars in recent months has been about the insufferable bigoted manbabies that complain about everything, but sadly the casual "fans" and movie goers have also been pretty pessimistic about the franchise.
