Kenny Omega turns on Will Ospreay after AEW Redemption main event

At AEW Redemption in Montreal's Bell Centre, Kenny Omega retained the AEW World Championship against TNT Champion Kevin Knight before turning on longtime ally Will Ospreay. PWExclusive reports Knight attacked Omega before the bell, Omega eventually secured the pin, and the Death Riders then swarmed the ring. Ospreay ran in to fend off the stable and, according to the show’s framing, refused to "suffocate" Omega, holding back when Jon Moxley urged him to escalate. After Ospreay cleared the ring, Omega delivered the One Winged Angel to finish him and close the broadcast. The swerve recasts Omega as a solo operator unwilling to rely on allies and raises immediate questions about Ospreay’s place in the world title picture and his relationship with the Death Riders. AEW is expected to address the fracture on upcoming television and in the lead up to All In in London.
