Macklin Celebrini signs five-year, $94M extension with Sharks
The San Jose Sharks signed superstar center Macklin Celebrini to a five-year, $18.8 million AAV extension, the team announced Wednesday. The contract now makes him the NHL’s highest-paid player. nyti.ms/3RXHXP0
Highest-paid player in the league. Absolutely worth it, and now committed to the Sharks through 2031-32. (Big gulp when I typed those years out. Won't we will be replicants by then?) Enormous moment. And he'll be named captain soon enough. Already unofficially is.
Celebrini is worth every penny
Dubas: Hey Sid, you’re still only making 8.7 million. You want a raise? Crosby: What part of 8.7 do you not understand? #LetsGoPens
Macklin Celebrini (5x18.8m extension with San Jose) is already performing like a #1 forward at age 19 (he turned 20 just after the Sharks season ended). Great conversion of offence into goals, generates central shots, defensively strong, draws penalties. An exceptional young player.
We knew he’d get Paid, we didn’t know he’d be THIS good so quickly. Phenomenal work all around.
At least the insane amount of ads all over the ice, players, glass, boards, broadcasts, the higher than ever ticket prices, & the 17 different streaming services required to watch your team are being put to good use. My boomer take is hockey was better when everyone involved made way less money.
