Enes Kanter Freedom ejected from WNBA game after confrontation with Natasha Cloud

sportsAug 24, 20261008,330

Former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom was ejected from Sunday night’s WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky after Chicago guard Natasha Cloud walked toward his courtside seat and yelled and pointed at him late in the third quarter. Kanter was wearing a black shirt reading "WOMAN noun. adult human female," and he stepped one foot onto the court before security and Sky players moved between them and escorted him from the arena. The Fever called timeout with 1:22 left in the third after Cloud scored, and Cloud chest-bumped teammate Aicha Coulibaly before approaching Kanter while standing on the baseline. Chicago coach Tyler Marsh said Cloud was defending people who need protection and that the team embraces her, and Cloud met with team and league security after the game but did not speak to media. Indiana star Caitlin Clark said she missed the incident because she was in a huddle, and the Sky lost 113-90. The AP noted broader context that the WNBA has seen debates over whether transgender women should be allowed to play, that the league’s collective bargaining agreement limits the WNBA to women without defining gender identity, and that Kanter and Royce White have declared themselves eligible for the WNBA draft while Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has opposed transgender participation in women’s sports.

I love* the Athletic framing last night’s drama as “Natasha Cloud was the aggressor” when a 6’10” man WALKED ONTO THE COURT at a game in which he was not playing in order to harass women. *hate

Arena ban "TBD"? Amazing players, amazing sport, the W as an organization is a joke. Banning Kanter from games is the easiest decision ever. www.espn.com/wnba/story/_...

This league is fucking up so bad dude. They're not even drawing a hard line protecting their (zero trans by the way) women players from abuse because they're afraid it will look like they're tangentially standing up for trans people in the minds of these freaks.

Keep this man away from women and girls.

Patrick Cosmos149

It’s worth mentioning that they also didn’t do shit last year when people were throwing dildos at the players and issued the most milquetoast statement in the world. Ironically one of the people speaking up about it at the time, saying it turned the league into a joke, was Sophie Cunningham

Very funny for your statement to be "The gigantic mentally ill man invading the court and physically threatening the women of our league might be banned we think maybe. He's certainly not allowed to play for us"

The WNBA needs needs new leadership very badly

Jesse Hawken53

they have to take action against this guy because if they don't, someone else will ramp it up next time. or maybe he will. they have to discourage the creeps from being creeps

Jane39

gotta just ban him outright and preemptively ban Royce white while they're at it

It really feels like the league is turtling up on some “Republicans watch WNBA games too” shit, even though it seems patently obvious they do not bsky.app/profile/netw...

Cathy has got to go

It's a ridiculously simple decision to make. Some guy comes down to your court to create a hostile presence for your players and fans and you don't make an immediate and decisive decision? If this was Enes Kanter, divorced plumber with 2 DUIs, he'd be banned for life!

Hey @wnba.com the best time to ban Enes Kanter Freedom from all your arenas is right now today. He put players at risk and his little stunt will embolden others to act in a similar manner. Are we going to wait for a player to be attacked on the court to take action?

He was wearing an ant-trans shirt and one of the players confronted him during a time out. He stepped towards her onto the court and security intervened. apnews.com/article/sky-...
