Peter Cullen, voice of Optimus Prime, dies at 85
in memory of peter cullen let's remember one of his best line reads
the absolute tired dad vibes of that single word.
The blunt honesty here is perfect lol
He really hit em with the
He was great throughout the whole of prime but yeah this is a good one
Mesmerizing, watched looping so much
You can hear the question mark at the end of “No?”
often I think back to Botcon 2004, and how Peter Cullen's panel received such ovation that he was moved to tears, in part because it was recognition for a role that had at the time been so far behind him feeling so fortunate to have seen him back then, because I also got to see him afterwards
he carried himself at conventions with a grateful & humble tone, not only after the breakthrough career moment of the 2007 Transformers movie, but also years before that became a reality, when by all means Botcon 2004 could have been his send-off to that part of his life it's been on my mind today
Cullen-and Budiansky-I remember were bewildered, surprised, and touched to show up at early conventions to discover how many people actually cared so much about the work on Transformers. I think today creatives tend to know when they do/don’t have fans, but they’d had no idea back then.
I know there have been times, especially in the early years of the WTF podcast, where y’all would kinda rag on people asking actors at panels “could you do x scenario with your characters?” And understandble, it can be cringe. But I’m also very happy there a clip of Prime talking to Eeyore today.
I was lucky enough to see Peter Cullen and Frank Welker at HasCon that one time. And at the hotel later, it was fun to walk around with some fan who I just met and see him lose his shit bumping into him in the lobby. Everybody loved the guy so much.
Happy that I was able to share that experience, too, and to see him so affected beyond his expectations.
I wasn't a Transformers kid growing up, but I certainly was a Winnie the Pooh kid. As an avid viewer of "The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh" I was very familiar with Peter Cullen's take on Eeyore, a role which he added his own touch to while staying true what came before. He will be missed. RIP
Fuck. That's the clip that got my crying about all this.
Again, this scene already made me teary-eyed when I watched it for the first time as I entered adulthood, but watching it in honor of Peter Cullen's passing makes me cry for a whole different reason. His legacy as a voice actor will never be forgotten.
I watched this episode with some friends 5-minutes ago. This scene made me tear up. Rest easy Peter 🙏😢
