WSJ: Mark Carney proposes Canada seek 'associate member' ties with EU
Three-byline alert: 🚨 “.. Carney has even suggested Canada take on a new title: ‘Associate Member of the European Union.’ .. The EU, not known for its flexible enforcement of membership rules, is open to the idea ..” @wsj.com www.wsj.com/world/europe...
Trump is the worst thing to ever happen to the United States.
If Trump can act as an associate of Russia and NK, the Carney has every right to act like an associate of the EU. Amiright?
We would welcome Canada with open arms ❤️ Lets do this!
This Canadian is grateful for the shift away from a country who treats their "ally" like an enemy.
The fact this is even on the table should set off alarms in Washington. Canada has spent generations economically tied to the U.S., and now it’s exploring a future built more around Europe because trade talks with us collapsed. That’s a strategic loss.
We in Canada welcome it, if it comes to pass. I know it sounds harsh, but many who live here are so done with the US.
🇨🇦🇪🇺 WSJ: Canadian PM Carney is pursuing a major shift toward Europe after trade relations with the U.S. deteriorated. His government is exploring an “associate member” relationship with the EU that could deepen cooperation on energy, critical minerals, AI, defense, research, and trade.
The plan aims to reduce Canada’s dependence on the U.S. by creating stronger economic and strategic links with Europe. Ideas include easier movement of goods and workers, shared infrastructure, joint technology projects, and closer defense ties.
It makes good political and economic sense. Why would you trust in trade agreements with an untrustworthy nation who at a whim puts tariffs on trade that not only affect the supplying nation but puts the cost on the American citizen 🇨🇦🇪🇺🇬🇧
kind of gave him no choice @ Donnie & Lutnick
This Canadian is all for it!
The objective should be to join the European single market
Indeed, DT and his squad are just cancer metastasis.
WSJ is reporting that Canada and the EU are exploring ways to improve our close relationships in defence, trade, etc Possibly some kind of "Associate" membership being discussed. No political integration as we're not in Europe. Closer ties with the EU would enhance both parties 🇨🇦🇪🇺 #EU #cdnpoli
Europe, play very nice with the Canadians. This is a big chance. Let's get on the winning side of secession of United Shitholes together
From WSJ: Mark Carney’s Audacious Bid to Make Canada an ‘Associate Member’ of the EU 🔷 If successful, this would be a big development!
Carney. Will. Succeed. Carney. Is. Succeeding. Carney. Has. Succeeded.
He's putting in the hard diplomatic work to build a strong relationship with a powerful economic group. Very interesting to watch to see how different he is than we are here in the U.S.
Canada’s recent military agreement with Ukraine, was huge. You never know when Canada might need access to the best drone technology, in order to protect themselves from their southern neighbor.
Great idea. Trump is burning bridges with mulch gusto. He’s such a wanker on the world stage. He’s way in over his head.
I’m convinced Carney’s team is intentionally leaking this. Alternatively someone high up on Carney’s team has been leaking for a while.
I like it!..lets do it Mark!..Fuck Trump
