Igor Shesterkin scored an empty-net goal with 2:34 remaining in the third period as the New York Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1, marking the first goaltender goal in Rangers franchise history. The goal was credited to Shesterkin, who wears number 31, and came late in the game when Tolvy was on the ice. That strike ties Shesterkin for eighth in the NHL with one goal and makes him the 18th goaltender in NHL history to score a goal. Social posts noted Shesterkin now leads Rangers goalies with one career goal in the most games played for that group, listed at 327 games. The team completed the 5-1 win with Shesterkin both scoring and having already been the game’s goalie.
