Minnesota beat Michigan 20-14 on Saturday to reclaim the Little Brown Jug, handing Michigan its first loss to the Golden Gophers since 2014 and marking Michigan's first loss in Minneapolis since 1977. Michigan fell to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in Big Ten play. Minnesota opened with a seven-play, 80-yard drive capped by a two-yard touchdown from Darius Taylor. Michigan answered with a five-yard touchdown by Jordan Marshall, then Nathaniel Staehling returned an interception 79 yards for a touchdown to put Michigan up 14-7 at halftime. In the second half Michigan committed miscues that swung field position, including a muffed punt by Andrew Marsh that returned possession to Minnesota in the red zone, and Minnesota converted turnovers and red-zone chances into the go-ahead points. Cornerback Smith Snowden recorded an earlier interception for Michigan, but Minnesota’s late takeaways and special teams miscues by Michigan decided the game and sent the Jug back to Minneapolis.
