sportsOct 3, 202626294

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 5-3 in NLDS Game 1. Teóscar Hernández, Kyle Tucker and Max Muncy each hit home runs, and Sean Murphy added a solo homer that brought the Braves within a run. Hernández’s two-run shot came off Victor Mederos in the fourth inning, giving Los Angeles a key cushion. The Dodgers announced a 26-player NLDS group that includes Josue De Paula and Hyeseong Kim and carries 14 position players and 12 pitchers, with lefties Scott, Vesia and Bubic listed among relievers. The game was played in Los Angeles on a hot afternoon reported above 100 degrees. The Dodgers will hold a 1-0 series lead heading into Game 2.

I told you guys Josue DePaula would be on the Dodgers NLDS roster. Some of you could have avoided having strokes had you believed me! lol

Pitcher Ohtani is fully shut down, right?

Gregg Levine1

This construction sort of feels like, “OK, we’ll give you the Chris Sale start, but you’re gonna run out of lefties in all the other games.”

Gregg Levine1

I never doubted it! (Kim is a bit of a surprise, tho.)

Kim to pinch run and JDP to hopefully give the offense a boost. I like it

No Alex Call 5 RHP n Dodgers bullpen: Roki, Henriquez, Dìaz, Phillips, Stewart

me eating crow after saying in the @truebluela.bsky.social comments last week I thought Jack Dreyer was a roster lock

Only a 5 game series - I like it.

5inthebox4fighting.bsky.social1

Not including Wrobo could be a mistake but the bullpen is deep

Jane1

they could bring them both for the next series, right?

Doesn't really matter but noticed that Passan posts these elaborate final score tweets except for the Dodgers Braves game which is totally ignored

Jeff Passan @JeffPassan . 7m FINAL: Rays 1, Yankees 0
Tampa Bay one-hit New York, with Drew Rasmussen throwing a near-immaculate eight innings and Bryan Baker locking it down. Jonathan Aranda's solo home run was all the Rays needed as they played typically clean baseball to take a 1-0 lead in the ALDS.

Jeff Passan @JeffPassan . 5h
FINAL: White Sox 3, Guardians 0
Five White Sox pitchers combined to throw a three-hit shutout -- and the last four innings were twirled by Chicago closer Grant Taylor, who threw 42 pitches and 34 strikes. A nails performance, a Munetaka Murakami homer and the Sox take Game 1.

He's been told to blame the Dodgers for the lockout so he's trying to not say anything nice about them

He’s going to be so annoying during the lockout

I also noticed that and side eyed him from afar

The Dodgers are the envy of baseball, with superstars throughout their lineup and a rotation of aces. The Braves have several thumpers of their own, a strong defense, and a deep bullpen, not to mention Chris Sale. Is that enough for them to topple the juggernaut? @jakemailhot.com’s NLDS preview:

I refuse to watch a playoff series between the Dodgers and the Braves unless there's a way that both teams can lose.

Some folks will point to the TV megadeal and trillion dollar payroll, but I like to think my late-nite OPC Garvey binge on eBay is what lifted the Dodgers to victory today. #NLDS

There will be many comparisons to the Dodgers but I don't think you need that deep a lineup to give the Braves fits, you just need better than Stott, BDLC, Crawford, Sosa, the ghost of Realmuto, Marsh.
