Alex Scott withdraws from England squad with thigh injury

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has withdrawn from the England squad to face the Czech Republic with a thigh quadriceps injury and has returned to Bournemouth for assessment. The 23-year-old, who made his first senior England start in Saturday's 7-0 win over Croatia, felt the problem before that match but still played 70 minutes alongside Elliot Anderson before being substituted. England and club medical staff expect Scott to be sidelined for six to eight weeks. Bournemouth are due to play nine games between 10 October and 8 November, a stretch during which Scott could miss multiple fixtures. His absence removes a recently capped midfield option for England and weakens Bournemouth's midfield depth while he recovers.
