The Chicago White Sox rallied for a 4-3 road victory over the Cleveland Guardians to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five American League Division Series. The win puts the sixth-seeded White Sox one win away from their first ALCS appearance, after Chicago earlier swept the Houston Astros in a best-of-three wild-card series. The Guardians entered the series as the No. 2 seed after winning the AL Central, their third straight division title and seventh in 11 years, and had a first-round bye. The Sox won the regular-season series against Cleveland 7-6 and went 4-2 at Guaranteed Rate Field during the year. The ALDS is played in a 2-2-1 format and will air on TBS, truTV and HBO Max. Chicago’s postseason run follows three consecutive seasons with 100-plus losses, including a modern-era high of 121 losses in 2024, making the current stretch of wins a rapid turnaround.
