Liverpool 0-3 Man City, Gravenberch sent off

sportsOct 11, 202662923

Ryan Gravenberch was sent off in the second half as Manchester City beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola blasted the red card decision after the match and explicitly pointed the finger at Anderson over the officiating. Virgil van Dijk said he did not see much that was wrong with Liverpool's overall performance despite the 3-0 defeat. The win left Manchester City top of the table, six wins from six at Anfield this season. The match featured sustained boos and banners from the Kop and a defiant response from the City away end focused on the ongoing independent commission controversy. Iraola singled out the sending off as the turning point; city converted chances after Liverpool dropped to ten men. The result leaves Liverpool with their first defeat under Iraola and extends City’s early-season dominance.

A freak show that emphasised the farce of the Premier League's current unreality The response of City fans, which does complicate some of the discussion I think they are "victims" but that's harder when you're revelling in it (before the win) www.independent.co.uk/sport/footba...

I think if the cheats aren't expelled, a lot of people will drift away from the English game. I'm not seeing LFC fans upset at a loss, I'm seeing them angry at cheats prospering or just losing faith in the game. It will be hard to remain invested to this extent knowing it's a sham. #115 #lfc #cheats
