This is why I hate people who unironically say that the 1993 Mario Movie is better than the Mario Galaxy movie. I'd rather watch a bad movie that everyone LOVED being on than one that was a nightmare to work on.

Sorry dude but never cook this shit again. As Mediocre the Galaxy movie was, it is not as horrendous or disastrous as the 1993 Mario Bros movie.

Every time somebody unironically says that the 1993 Mario movie is better than both the Illumination movies, an angel loses it's wings.

That is an insane fucking take… dude gotta be trolling… I do respect opinions but saying that The Super Bros. (1993) movie is better than The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026) is just abysmal… Plus, The Super Mario Galaxy movie is not that bad, I still enjoyed the film when I saw it in theaters.

Jesus, like dawg, I hate what they did to Rosalinas backstory too but that didn’t stop me smiling the whole way through when I first saw it. And besides, the movie is a separate canon, Rosalina likely isn’t gonna be in the next Mario Movie anyway.

I'm in a weird place where I genuinely like the 1993 Mario movie, but not out of some desire to trash the new Mario movies, which I also like. (I also really like the old anime movie too.) It has its problems. But I do think, while it's a poor *adaptation*, it is still a really fun movie.

For the record, I don’t think the 93 movie is good at all. Oh, it’s TERRIBLE. And the production… was a total mess. NOBODY should defend that. When looking PURELY at the movies themselves… I guess I just personally felt more disappointed by the Galaxy Movie given how much potential it wasted.

That is an insane thing to say when comparing any of the Illumination movies to the live action Mario movie, holy shit.

Rosalina does more in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie than Peach did in the first *20 years* of her fictional existence. But yeah, I appreciate Miyamoto wanting to go further than just “GIRLS can kick butt too!” Peach & Rosalina are both pushed to their limit, and their hearts are what save the day.

Saw the 1993 #SuperMarioBros movie for the first time today, on the big screen and in #35mm at Screenland Armour. Better than I expected it to be!

Also Subcon rules and it's a CRIME we haven't visited that world more in the franchise Even the Galaxy Movie brought back the 8-bit army, the locale otherwise has nothing to do with Subcon itself, and that's a shame. I love Subcon's aesthetic.

I have precisely 2 issues with Mario Galaxy 2 1. The core control of Mario could still stand to be improved 2. They should make the starship morph into Luigis head whenever you use him

I have not seen the second Mario movie because I really disliked the first, but I'm willing to bet this is more inventive than anything in the film lol
