Pro-Israel group shifts support toward Haley Stevens in Michigan Senate primary
BREAKING: Mallory McMorrow suspends her campaign for US Senate in Michigan. It is now a two person race between Dr. Abdul El-Sayed and Haley Stevens. El Sayed is funded by people, Working Families, & labor unions. Stevens is a corporate funded pro AIPAC pro Schumer puppet. Vote Abdul. Let’s go!✊🏽
Dr. El Sayed is an Obama admin alum and since then has worked tirelessly for the health of people in Michigan and for M4A. He'll be great in the Senate.
I like my puppets of the non Shumer variety. Go Dr. Go!
No more AIPAC hostages! A definitive NO to their control of America!
I wouldn't vote for anyone Chuckles is promoting.
I love this guy. thanks for the reminder to toss some cash his way.
Aw, I don't know enough about this race but I really liked Mallory. She's young though. And a rising star. Vote blue straight ticket, don't care who. Lol
Notable — Haley Stevens makes no outreach to Mallory McMorrow supporters, while Abdul El-Sayed explicitly welcomes them to his movement:
Such a bizarre parsing of this statement. Stevens said the normal gracious things you do when a candidate drops out. You could be a journalist and less of an agitprop practitioner once in a while.
Abdul El-Sayed has more charisma, talent, and work ethic than the stodgy Stevens. Hopefully, McMorrow skates to where the puck is going and endorses El-Sayed.
I saw a post from Steven about McMorrow and it was very kind and supportive and definitely outreach.
Here's Haley Stevens statement about McMorrow's withdrawal. Seems pretty gracious to me. - Anecdotally, the El-Sayed supporters are the same bullying asshole trolls they've always been. Dancing on the grave of McMorrow's campaign, and directing bend-the-knee snark at her supporters.
She can be the Brad Lander to Sayed's Mamdani. Maybe something will come up where Sayed can help her in a different campaign down the line.
What was the time difference between Mallory dropping out and Haley not reaching out vs. Abdul reaching out? You don't know if Haley and her team were busy doing other things. They might still reach out.
I mean Stevens’ statement is pretty gracious and clearly trying to reach out to McMorrow supporters even if she doesn’t use those exact words. We don’t have to do this kind of parsing.
FWIW, even without this I would have predicted that a large chunk of Mallory voters would shift to Abdul once she dropped out.
“To his movement” I thought it was a campaign…
El-Sayed has the juice. Steven's statement is the generic thing we expect after a primary competitor drops. Its fine, non-offensive, doesn't attack anyone or take shots. But El-Sayed's is specific and that reads better to me. It explicitly talks the emotions that her supporters have.

Then, let’s elect Jocelyn Benson as our next Governor. Let’s flip the State House, and expand our majority in the State Senate. Let’s elect Democrats up and down the ticket and show the rest of this country what it means to fight like Michigan.
Ten years ago, I started this work heartbroken, typing five words into a search bar. And I learned the only thing that has ever really changed this country: ordinary people who love something enough to fight for it.
Hoping to hear more from you in the future. We’re not going back 💙💪
!! Mallory McMorrow drops out of the Michigan Senate primary, leaving a one-on-one contest between Abdul El-Sayed and Haley Stevens. This dramatically changes the dynamic of the race. A must-win seat for Democrats this fall.
If El-Sayed wins the primary and the general, it destroys the narrative that left candidates cannot win in general elections. He has been a far better campaigner than McMorrow.
As the quarter just closed, I wonder how McMorrow's fund-raising compared to El-Sayed and Stevens and if it might have precipitated the decision as mush as polling.
a choice between. " I dream of Israel" & owned by AIPAC & a corporate centerist Dem vs. I work for the people and want health care for all. not really a choice. Abdul El-Sayed for Senate!
Mike Rogers lost his 2024 Senate race to Elissa Slotkin by less than 20,000 votes. Chose carefully, Michigan Democratic Party primary voters. Choose very carefully…
Perhaps he can offset Fetterman's obsession with supporting Israel. It's time to get some people that will call out Israel for their genocide. Even though Hamas killed 1400 Israelis that doesn't give Israel an excuse to kill 60,000 Palestinians. If nothing else they should have quit at 1400.
📣 I've been clear that I was remaining neutral between U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens and State Sen. Mallory McMorrow as I consider both to be friends and I think either would make a great U.S. Senator. With Sen. McMorrow suspending her campaign today, I'm formally endorsing @haleyformi.bsky.social. 1/
With that in mind, I have updated my U.S. Senate page to include Rep. Stevens. HOWEVER, as I've also stated repeatedly before, I will clarify that If Abdul El Sayed does win the Democratic nomination next month, I'll raise money for him for the general election. secure.actblue.com/donate/senat...
I like McMorrow, but I think this is a smart move.
Picking the same old same old, gets you the same old results. I have no earthly idea why we continue to make the same mistakes over and over. We lost to Trump twice! One would think we would figure it out.

Stevens picked me a big endorsement: bsky.app/profile/pier...
Zoom out to see the big picture. Eye on the prize.
Michigan Democrat Mallory McMorrow suspended her campaign for the U.S. Senate on Sunday, transforming her party’s high-stakes nomination contest just a month before the primary.
I really sorry that did not work out. She is a fighting Democrat and a real firecracker.
I mean... if I lived there, I would vote for Abdul. But, I really, really like McMorrow and hope to see her run again soon. She would be a great legislator!
Mallory McMorrow you Rock!! Will catch you next election you will be so ready!!!
Too bad it didn’t work out. Fortunately for her, and us, she has a bright future.
This is a big deal and I am glad she's out, because she was going down some really dark paths with her messaging. I hope this opens things up for Abdul El-Sayed. I don't get to vote in Michigan but Dr. El-Sayed would be my choice (he was my choice before she dropped out)
Lis Smith you did it again
Super fucked up on her part, people have already started voting. I saw somewhere there's a way to change your vote if you've already cast it, though, so hopefully those that did can do that.
Anyway, I’ll work my ass off to elect whoever wins the Michigan Senate primary.
El-Sayd is so well spoken and fits the narrative of what Dem voters are looking for.
Fair play, but wouldn't it be more impactful to support the candidate who aligns with your values?
I have an idea-why not work to make sure it's Abdul El-Sayed who wins? Let's move the country in the right direction instead of voting to keep the Status Quo fat & happy when they only deliver crumbs to WTP instead of actual, big, structural change.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel endorsed Rep. Haley Stevens : “Haley is wicked smart, has won multiple highly competitive races, and she connects with people on a level so sincere and genuine that everyone who meets her feels truly seen and heard.”
LOL that statement is so funny. Maybe, she could have ended with “Haley is wicked”.
Haley’s nice! I DONT WANT NICE. I WANT A FIGHTER WHO DOES NOT TAKE AI, CRYPTO OR AIPAC MONEY. ABDUL EL-SAYED IS THE CANDIDATE PROGRESSIVE DEMS NEED TO GET DEMOCRACY BACK. Register, vote, & vote progressive Dems in every race, like your life depends on it, becuz it does. Estab Dems r complicit.
. Nessel will always back AIPAC candidates. And, why is Attorney General endorsing any candidate? Her job is to represent people's interest in her state; not political endorsements. Shameful!
Last thing we need is another AIPAC funded corporate democrat…Vote Abdul Al-Sayed
She’ll endorse Abdul after the general.
Wow Michigan Senate primary is going to be straight establishment vs. progressive contest This time in a swing state Still a month until the primary Race becoming a microcosm of bigger contest within the Democratic Party www.detroitnews.com/story/news/p...
Michigan primary is on August 4 The same day as the Virginia primary Unfortunately the Commonwealth will probably be overshadowed
I’m actually surprised it took her this long. It was clear for months that she was out of a lane.
That's so wild. She seemed like she had everything going for her, but just couldn't lock down a lane. I know the campaign tarnished her star, but I still hope she gets another shot at higher office someday.
Glad one of them dropped out. We’ll see what Michigan wants.
Very interesting. It seemed like she was a rising star not long ago.
Wow. Really thought she’d be the nominee 6 months ago.
The questions now are does she endorse Stevens or AES? Or does she bother to endorse either one of them? She seemed to have problems with both of them. And if she doesn't endorse either of them, who do her supporters drift to?
State Sen. Mallory McMorrow (D-Royal Oak) has suspended her U.S. Senate campaign, leaving U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Birmingham) and former Wayne County health official Abdul El-Sayed in the race for the Democratic primary on Aug. 4.
This is understandable but so sad. I've been pushing for her since last summer. I know she's far from done working for a better Michigan.
Some things she did right: getting to work early to meet with voters and understand what the prevailing concerns are. She’ll be back and I hope she shores up where she is committed to progressivism. That would help her immensely.
