Nintendo Switch Online adds Wario Land and three Game Boy titles

Nintendo added Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, The Sword of Hope II and Fortified Zone to Nintendo Switch Online's Game Boy library today. Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members also received Dr. Mario & Puzzle League for Game Boy Advance. In Japan the GBA lineup includes Dr. Mario & Panel de Pon plus Tomato Adventure. These Game Boy updates are the first in several months; Nintendo added Mario vs. Donkey Kong for GBA in March for MAR10 Day and added Balloon Kid and Yoshi to the Game Boy library in February. The Expansion Pack add-on, required to play Game Boy Advance and Nintendo 64 titles on Switch Online, costs $49.99 per year.

Outside of Pokémon Blue, pretty sure I've dedicated the most time to Wario Land on my Game Boy Pocket as a kid. I think I gave a kid in my 4th grade class some lenticular Pokémon cards in exchange for Wario Land and TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan. 😅

Originally released in 1991, this popular action shooter allows players to alternate between two characters. Fortified Zone brings four multi-room levels of heavy fire and explosions, as well as the mode SOUND BOY where you can listen to the music tracks outside of the action!

Enemy forces have created a gigantic fortress in a critical zone, and reports have been coming in that they are developing a powerful secret weapon! Secret agents MASATO KANZAKI and MIZUKI MAKIMURA have been dispatched to infiltrate the... fortress and venture into the heart of the complex to destroy it. MASATO and MIZUKI each have their own abilities, so they will need to tag-team their way through breaching the enemies' defenses.

Join these two in their mission through the Fortified Zone and destroy the threat!

Thank you Switch Online for once again appealing specifically to me with obscure icons from Kuru Kuru Kururin! Interestingly the Helirin itself isn't here, and it's missing the rest of Kururin's siblings, but hey! They remembered! Wow!!! (I still want to play Kururin Paradise and Kururin Squash!)

Still no GameCube games but at least they finally added Wario Land and I don't think many people know this game but I love Fortified Zone it was always on of my favorite Game Boy games when I was a kid and it has one of my favorite GB soundtracks ☺️
