Nintendo Switch Online adds Wario Land and three Game Boy titles

Nintendo added Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, The Sword of Hope II and Fortified Zone to the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy library today. Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members also received the Game Boy Advance compilation Dr. Mario & Puzzle League. In Japan the GBA lineup differs: subscribers there get Dr. Mario & Panel de Pon plus Tomato Adventure. These are the first Game Boy updates to the service in several months; Nintendo previously added Mario vs. Donkey Kong for GBA on MAR10 Day and in February added Balloon Kid and Yoshi to the Game Boy library. Nintendo Switch Online offers online multiplayer, cloud saves, voice chat via mobile and access to classic libraries; standard subscriptions cost $3.99 monthly, $7.99 three months, or $19.99 twelve months, while the Expansion Pack add-on costs $49.99 per year. The additions expand the handheld catalog available to subscribers and bring a classic Wario Land entry officially to the service for the first time.

tbh i don't trust them not completely whiff if they ever do another modern puzzle league. like how the version packed in with animal crossing 3ds wasn't made by intsys but instead was half-assed by nintendo EAD so all the block movement, combo/chaining and garbage dropping feel is completely wrong

This series has some of the most fun enemy designs ever and they're all so well animated, too. Wario Land 2 has a fish with a fishing rod that uses coins for bait, or two of the regular pirate enemies stacked on top of each other wearing a robe, and when you hit them they lose their disguise.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 is crucially important to my video game upbringing. It’s one I don’t acknowledge enough. It’s possible I spent more hours replaying that game over and over as a child than I have all other 2D Mario games.
