sportsAug 19, 202620421

Dallas Wings rookie Azzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after the team announced Wednesday she will undergo a season-ending arthroscopic procedure on her right knee. Fudd, the first overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, last played Aug. 5 against the Washington Mystics and has missed recent games with ongoing right knee soreness. She has a history of right-knee injuries, including two ACL tears dating to high school. In 30 appearances this season Fudd averaged 13.1 points, 1.8 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals while ranking sixth in the league in 3-point percentage at 39.7 percent and ninth in total steals with 52. Fudd was the first-ever rookie to win the WNBA 3-Point Contest and recorded the second-most points in a final round. Dallas has lost four of five games since Fudd went out, falling to eighth in the standings, with veterans Odyssey Sims and Alysha Clark starting in her place.

There's going to be a Sophie Cunningham rally at American Airlines Center tomorrow in Dallas. I'd love to talk to some Dallas Wings for a short story i'm working on. If you're a Wings fan with thoughts about how they feel about this whole thing coming to Dallas, feel free to shoot me a DM.
