Backup Drew Lock led two fourth-quarter scoring drives and the Seattle Seahawks intercepted Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye three times in the fourth quarter to rally for a 13-10 season-opening win at Lumen Field. Seattle trailed 10-0 after Maye connected with rookie Eli Raridon for a 2-yard touchdown following defensive pass interference on a flea-flicker, and Andy Borregales added a 50-yard field goal for New England in the second half. Sam Darnold exited with a hip injury on the opening drive, forcing Lock into action; Seattle was held to just a field goal through three quarters before Nehemiah Pritchett’s interception shifted momentum. Julian Love intercepted Maye on the next drive and Jason Myers hit a 26-yard field goal to give Seattle a 13-10 lead. Maye drove New England into position twice after the first two picks, but Josh Jobe’s toe-tapping interception in the end zone with under a minute left sealed the win. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said after the game, “We want to be aggressive, not reckless,” criticizing Maye’s late turnovers. A.J. Brown left with a right ankle injury in the third quarter and did not return; New England hosts Pittsburgh next on Sept. 20 while Seattle visits Arizona on Sept. 20.
