Bo Davidson records first MLB hit in Giants debut

Bo Davidson recorded a hit in his first Major League at-bat for the San Francisco Giants, singling to right off Twins right-hander Zebby Matthews after falling behind 0-2 and battling through a nine-pitch plate appearance. The ball off the bat registered 103.8 mph. Davidson also stole a base and later scored a run in the game. The outfielder, Baseball America’s No. 5 Giants prospect, was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento after hitting .309/.389/.534 with 10 home runs and six steals in 234 plate appearances. Giants PR noted Davidson is the second Giants player with a stolen base in his MLB debut since the team moved to San Francisco on June 7, 1980, and the first to record both a steal and a hit in his debut since Red Tramback on September 15, 1940. The team assigned Davidson uniform number 94, the first time that number has been used in franchise history.
