Ken Urker, the partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, was found unresponsive and dead at a residence in Raceland, Louisiana, on Thursday evening, his 34th birthday, after police responded to a call at 6:15 p.m., the Lafourche Sheriff’s Office told CNN. An investigation into his death is underway and Blanchard told People magazine she believes he overdosed. Blanchard said she is “in disbelief” and asked for privacy and compassion for their daughter, Aurora, and both families. Blanchard met Urker after he wrote her a supportive letter following the 2017 documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest; they dated, became engaged while she was in prison, split, and later rekindled their relationship. The couple welcomed daughter Aurora at the end of 2024; Urker called the baby “the greatest gift of all.” Blanchard served eight and a half years in prison for helping kill her mother Dee Dee Blanchard, who had been accused of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, and her case has been the subject of documentaries including HBO’s Mommy Dead and Dearest, Gypsy’s Revenge, and The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
