Ohio has moved my street address district THREE times & it is ridiculous. Moving me from 1st district to 8th district next year. Prior to 1st, it wasn't that long ago that I was in 2nd district. Moving me from a Dem. rep. to a GOP rep. in more conservative counties than my home county. Sad in Ohio.

serious question here. when they redistrict in louisiana, if it isn't proportionally even racially, could one argue intentional discrimination? i mean, non-black ppl said the 6th discriminated against them. but if they redraw so THEY get a big advantage... could we tie it up in court?

BEAT 2018 Yesterday’s decision by our MAGA Supreme Court in Louisiana v. Callais makes our work registering Democrats more important than ever. This decision gives the go-ahead to any state who wants to conduct a racist gerrymander. All they have to do is call it a partisan gerrymander, which the same Supreme Court has ruled is completely legal. What that means for the November elections is that Florida will now redraw its maps in an attempt to seize four more House seats. On the national level, that will put Republicans ahead in this gerrymandering arms race by roughly two to four seats. We can absolutely still win the House this November, but how much we win it by just became existentially important. Because what this ruling means for 2028 is that states throughout the South will likely draw blatantly racist district maps to hand Republicans 10-20 more House districts. Democratic states will have to fight back as hard as possible with their own maps. And that is why we need to win this November decisively. We need to not only flip the House, we need to create a buffer of Democratic seats that can withstand the Republican gerrymander in 2028. In 2018, we needed 24 seats to flip the House. We won 41. Email from the Montgomery County Democratic Commission "The 6-3 ruling in Louisiana v. Callais makes it more difficult to challenge voting maps that dilute minority voting power. Equally important, these judges have succeeded in overturning decades of precedent in addition to disregarding the will of Congress. A setback for civil rights, this decision has the potential to make it easier for states to execute voting laws that disenfranchise African Americans and all voters of color. Simply stated, this ruling means: 1. Majority Black districts can be eliminated. States can now redraw congressional maps to break up Black and minority voting communities. 2. Discriminatory maps cannot be challenged in the same way. The ruling strips the legal tools communities relied on to fight racist redistricting in court, leaving Black voters with fewer protections than at any time since Jim Crow. 3. Congress, not the voters, will now choose your representatives. This defies the fundamental rule of democracy, that says the voters, not the government, choose their representatives."
